Another ‘Rockefeller’ guy

The world is crawling with people with different personalities. You get to meet people you can’t help but love, appreciate and care about and people you keep wondering what on earth happened to them and made them became who they are.

When I watched the movie Who is Clarke Rockefeller? which was based on a true story, I wondered how anyone alive would not only be that disillusioned but also deceive a highly intelligent woman into believing all his lies about being a Rockefeller and married her. Racking up bills on the woman’s account to pay for a lifestyle that he couldn’t afford. A lifestyle, I believe had always been his dream.

People, Rockefeller guys are still very much in existence and on the prowl. Someone I know got scammed by one. Okay, maybe he didn’t say he was a Rockefeller, but he did appear to be a well to do guy who was highly connected; who had people in high places. He had ‘family members’ who were big names in the society. He deceived a number of people and collected money from them and was living really large. He lived in hotels and ate in choice restaurants with the money of these people. Just like the guy in the movie, he is charming and could talk his way into and out of anything. He made you trust him and believe him because his stories appeared real. If he said he would get you a visa, you would believe him because he probably had people there. If he told you he would get you on any international record label, you would probably believe that too because of the connections he ‘had’.

He had women that got caught up in all they saw about him. They wanted to be with this ‘enigma’, this guy who was a big boy, the very intelligent, fast talking and caring guy who gave you all his attention when you were with him. They were mesmerised by the several phone calls he made and received within an hour and the things he talked about. They listened to how he had houses in cities in the country and how he had several meetings with top shots concerning big things. So when he told these women to pay for his flights, his hotel bills, his feeding and other bills; most of them didn’t bat an eyelid. Of course he had a reason why he couldn’t pay; he was expecting a huge amount of money from one of his completed projects. The projects had taken all his money and of course he would pay back with gifts too. That was his story and these women believed him. He had promised a few of them marriage, paraded them as his fiancées. So they believed they were supporting their man and helping him in the time of need. He was smart enough not to let these women ever meet one another. Each of them believed she was about to be married to him. What a pity. The last thing he had in mind was probably marriage. He was just interested in what he was getting from them.

It is different if you are in a relationship with a man you trust and love and you help him out financially when you have to. But a man that you just met that looks dapper all the time yet asks you to pay for the lunch you guys just had on a first date, beware of him.

If we don’t learn from our own mistakes, we learn listening to other people recount theirs.

    1. Exactly. They usually find out what you are desperate for and subtly use it to extort you. It is just a pity.

  4. They do dear because most times they just disappear into thin air leaving the ladies too embarrassed to do anything about it. They usually do this to women whom they know are decent and wouldn't want a scandal really.

Its crazy how babes fall for this proposal scam. Someone I know doles out huge amounts to her Rockerfeller man. Last I heard, she took a loan of #3.5 at d bank where she works for this guy.
Everytime he goes to her office, he takes 150k or more from her...my ears are full.
I really pity her, cos when she eventually learns...hmmm!
