Believe it or not, I got to hear about the existence of skin whitening injections and pills about two months ago.[I don carry last abi?]. I decided to write about it because I read in a magazine that it was becoming very popular in Nigeria. Some weeks ago, a pop singer and her ‘friend’ had issues and the issue of skin whitening injections came up. [ Some secrets of these....{fill in the gap} are out there yeah?]
It is said that this injection would give a uniform complexion without knuckles, cures acne, fades scar marks and makes the skin soft and supple. I did a bit of a research and saw that a lot of companies mostly in Asia are marketing these injections and pills.
Now, I also heard that the injections are quite expensive and you have to keep on taking them as drips or of course injections. The first thing that came to my mind was Errmm, I hate injections with a passion and I would only have to endure them if I am ill and I rarely get ill anyway so taking injections twice a week to get a lighter complexion.....I don’t think so. That is besides the fact that I don't need it anyway.
I don’t condone skin bleaching in any way in fact, I’m disgusted when I see a person trying to alter his or her natural complexion but there are people out there with pigmentation problems though. Uneven skin tone, dark patches caused by some medications, sun burns, acne marks etc. Could this be the way forward for them? Are they safer than these harmful chemicals that are found in skin treatment products?
I must say that there is something weird about an injection that makes your skin lighter.
I want to know more about this stuff because I am curious like that. If you have an authentic report about the dangers of getting these injections, please feel free to leave a comment. If you know nothing about it, comment anyway.
Read this article I found online about skin whitening injections here
Hope you guys had a beautiful weekend?

Errrmmmm, no thanks. In as much as i would love my skin to be evenly toned and all that, i will not subscribe to skin lightening injection or pills. Mba nu. I hate injections and I bet they would also have some terrible side effects. The after effects might not show immediately, but it will take its toll someday and the individual will be worse off. And to think that you would have to take the injections often, Hell to the NO. :-D.
ReplyDeleteMy mum used to tell us to use ude aku (i can't remember what the English name is) or sheabutter to have and maintain an even and smooth skin. :-).
naijabankgirl.blogspot.com
I have never heard of injection or pill for skin lightening...only bleaching cream! I can't imagine this could be good for you health-wise. I've had kinda blotchy skin, not crazy noticeable, but i used ambi soap to try and even it out but not to make me lighter. I'm just fine with my God given milk-chocolatey goodness lol
ReplyDeletebest injection for black skin is (NC24Pure Crystalize Ultimate Whitening 15000mg from JAPAN )100% cures from black skin to totally English woman its one among celebrity injection its cost $290 with six vials black woman the time has come to be like our queen nicki minaj . white skin permanent

@Che: Exactly o! The side effects later might turn out to be disastrous. I use shea butter and it works like magic. The whole thing is just weird. Ife a di na Naija o!
ReplyDelete@LadyNgo: Now you have dear. Heard it is some compound you take with Vit C. There are people with pigmentation issues that would find this information useful i guess. And your complexion is truely fine.
That sounds so dangerous, just like self medication. and the fact is that these creams, injections and stuff are really medicines. I wonder why people take them so lightly?
ReplyDelete@Myne: People want to be light skinned at all costs. It is crazy though. The pills are used in the treatment of cancer and HIV.
ReplyDelete@Lily
ReplyDeleteThe sound of injection makes me afraid already, don't even worry about it. I think it's one of those pranks people use, didn't you read on Linda Ikeji about cement implants? All this crazy quacks out there.
Na only yeye things wey we dey learn for this we country. I have heard about this procedure years ago. But it was mainly Asian and Arabic women who did it as some of them were not as "white" as they wanted to be. and some where even discriminated against because they arent as white.
ReplyDeleteNow Africans have followed. O di egwu. smh.
They are used to treat cancer and some other ailments. The side effect is that it makes patients glow so people have now jumped on it and are using it without recourse to the downside effects. One of the side effects is kidney failure.
ReplyDeletefirst time commentator if what u said is true that it is used to cure cancer then why should it be administered to them if it has kidney failure as side effects. check your information before u broadcast
DeleteI believe this is a medical advancement and it should be considered.... moral codes aside, Africans generally find lighter skin attractive and for as long as this notion is valid, people will go to extreme lengths to “Bleach” their skin.
ReplyDeleteIf the medication or whatever can be provided with no side effects, then I think it should be an encouraged advancement from the brutality people commit on their skin in the name of lightening.
no this sounds so wrong, i won't even consider it as an option, it sounds fishy..
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of this so you nor carry last. Is this injection FDA approved?
ReplyDelete@Yankeenaijachic: It is scary actually especially the injection part.
ReplyDelete@Kiky: Na so my sister. It is mostly used by Asians. The thing dikwa very risky if you ask me.
@Firsttime: Welcome. Thanks for the information. Kidney failure isnt a joke. I hope people get to know about this and 'maintain'.
@9jaFoodie: I agree with the fact that most people crave a lighter complexion but even if this should be considered, it should be administered by a dermatologist to people with pigmentation problems. They say it is much safer than hydroquinone and other steroids used for skin lightening. But then, it has side effects.
@Jemima: Lol at it sounds fishy
@Okeoghene: Glad to know. I don't know if it is approved though. There are a number of brands out there.
I have heard about this before but something about it just sounds wrong, I really dont knw anything about it but it doesnt sound like anything I'd consider as one fo my options. I have always had a problem with my skin tone. My face is like 5-6 shades darker than the rest of my body....Just my face..lol (maybe I exaggerated a little). One time I tried some lotion or facial something, and I got a bit lighter on my face.....my mum nagged me till I stopped using it/ I am really not bothered by it anymore though...
ReplyDeleteDo let us know when you get any information on this.My curiosity is now piqued too
Hmmmm... not a fan....
ReplyDeletexoxox,
CC
If you want to get lighter or evenly toned safely, there are a number of ways to do it. I suggest you check out the lightening section of www.skincaretalk.com. There are a lot of people on the forum that outline solutions to hyperpigmentation problems like melasma, keratosis, dark knuckles, etc. Skin lightening injections have never been recommended on the forum, so I guess the results and side effects on those are still inconclusive for them.
ReplyDeleteI hope this helps. Have a great day :)
@Honey: I know a number of people with that issue [face a lot darker than body]. There's something weird about those injections. Nobody has said anything positive.
ReplyDelete@CC: Yeah, for obvious reasons i guess...
@Sam: Thanks dear. I am sure people would find that helpful. Have a good day...
chaii!!, wetin we no go take our ears to hear and our eyes to see again?!. injections to lighten up the skin color? tufiakwa!! I have a feeling it will have implications later, ie if there is any such thing!
ReplyDeletewww.apysworld.blogspot.com
I don't agree at all, one should just love the skin that they are in. All these injections, creams, pills, etc. come with risks. I don't think it's worth it.
ReplyDeleteThat GOOD GOOD Blog
@Priscy: It's there oo. People are using it to lighten their skin but I am yet to hear anything positive about it though.
ReplyDelete@Dee: I totally agree with you.
Hi, I am from blogshare and you can follow me back at www.iamsocialbutterfly.com. I have hear of brown skinned people doing some sort of bleaching, but I had no idea there were injections and pills. Society has gone haywire. We all need reassurance, that the skin we are in is fine. Much to much media, and now we are brain washed. Much to much, westernization too.
ReplyDeleteHello I don't believe in skin lightening. One should learn to accept their skin tone and identity and learn to accept and appreciate the beautiful handwork of the creator. If they have problems with acne, adjust their diets, eat less processed foods, eliminate fried foods, eat more fruits and vegetables, read labels, use natural skincare products that are free from synthetic ingredients, drink more water 10 cups a day, exercise. Actually lemon juice applied at night will remove blemish. If you need recipe ideas etc .
ReplyDeletecheck out my blog!
I've never heard about this, I always have this nagging feeling that plastic surgery and all other enhancements take more than they give!!
ReplyDeleteI checked out the link you included and could understand the 'injection's' saleability. The writer said its gluthathione and ascorbic acid (vit c). I can imagine the cosmetologist telling a potential client...its only vit c - but you see it works faster this way...forgetting that oral route and intra-muscular routes are different.(Ndi Ibo will say - anaghi agba ife a na agba na nti na anya..something like that).
ReplyDeleteI have a love/hate relationship with my skin..but nay na. I will never try this
Although I'm a guy, my skin means a lot to me. I've done some experiments with it too, but nothing as bad as bleaching or taking injections. Just because the injection works for someone doesn't mean it'll work for another person. We all have different reactions to products you know. Anyway I think it's bad news, especially for blacks.... Black it beautiful, so let's stay that way.

ReplyDelete@michelle: Natural products work but not as fast as some people would want it. Funny but true. It is still the best way to treat the skin anyway. Will check your blog out.
@Ginger: The vit C is what is drawing people to the product o! They'd believe that it cant be harmful. But nke a o bu injection, Chineke ekwena ihe ojo!
Lanre: Exactly! People dont do that here o! It is whatever worked for A must work for B attitude.
@Adiya: The sun these days eh! Pretty fierce i tell u..
Oh!!! Really I can't believe that there is a injection or pills for lightening our skin then this injection going to very popular very soon. But the important thing is that there should not be any side effect...I hope no any side effect will be there...fabulous information...Yonka
ReplyDeleteI'll have to tell a girl...she really needs it. As in, it's dark in here and I have no idea where she is. Her family calls her the "black sheep of the family"...mehn! I've found a Christmas gift for her.

Not surprised the injections and pills are made in Asia, they are very much used to lightening their skin. Nigeria and I must be yellow paw paw sha.
ReplyDeleteNow they have taken this Bleaching abi na Skin lightening thing a lil too far. The thing don turn Craze now

ReplyDeleteNice blog.
Lmao@Gospel but soo true. There are just almost always horrible side-effects jere. i'm rocking my "caramel-ness" all the way
ReplyDeleteThis is my first time of hearing about this so obviously "you no carry last"...na wa! I need to do a bit more research so that I will know what they are injecting into their skin.
ReplyDeleteThis is scary.
Im not sure why the lady in the pic had to do it! Not necessary

Happy New Year dear. Sure you enjoyed the hols. Missed you around here. Hope you come back soon.
ReplyDeleteThe different ideas given by individuals for what methodology that needs to be applied to maintain a fairer skin.
ReplyDeleteFunny, I think they market pills to Caucasians to "darken" the skin into a lovely year round tan. What is considered beauty changes from place to place, doesn't it. White people have been destroying their skin and risking cancer for years in pursuit of the perfect suntan. Asians want white skin. Darker skinned people treasure lighter skin. It's all beautiful Lily. And if we were all the same, how boring would that be? I adore very black skin. It looks magical to me. Coffee with cream is great too. And my grand daughter, Emma, is of a pearl shade of white. Gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteGood evening Lily !! i come on your attractive website to say to you a big "Happy new Year" !!! . i hope that new year will be so beautiful for you !!
ReplyDeleteHuh? Seriously, I feel that's gross. Why change your complexion anyway?
ReplyDeleteI'm a freckled Nigerian guy and I'm okay with myself. Beating myself about the freckles won't make me any better neither will it make it go away, so, I stick to my color - God and nature had a reason for making it so.
I've not heard about that injection though. Lily just whispered it to me. :-D
Regards,
Chukwuka.
I've never heard of such a thing, and I am quite shocked, to say the least! This is very unacceptable and is the epitome of "when pushing the levels of recreation goes too far". Heh. I just hope that in the end everyone undergoing procedures such as these take the recommended precautions that will protect them from death. This is sad and very scary. Thank you for sharing and bringing awareness!
ReplyDeleteI don't like the idea in any way...there must be something adverse to it...and why would a black or choco girl need a light skin, is light skin prettier than black or choco skin? As for me, I am a fan and lover of chocos...Lolz..nice one.
ReplyDeleteI like this post. Everything designs in nice way I got much information by this post. You should continue do this type of post.
ReplyDeleteThough i am not against women who love or uses whitening products, i am just concern with people who have naturally brown or tan skin and decided to use a whitening products just saddens me. Don't they love their heritage?
ReplyDeleteAs a person with fairer/yellow toned skin, I believe every skin tone is so beautiful and while these injections may sound appealing to some people, I hope no one has regrets!
ReplyDeleteThis blog is very attractive everything design in well-manner and all things are very informative. I like this post very much.
ReplyDeletewow how crazy, I had definitely not heard about this. I can understand wanting to use it for really uneven skin tone/acne scars or something, but not just for regular skin! I would feel very cautious about how healthy it could be...
ReplyDeleteI have used vitamin C + collagen injection for 2 months, and I get my skin better than before - more moist although I don't use body lotion, reduce my acne, and the important one is my body always fit, but I have to drink at least 3 lts of water everyday to keep my kidney good.
ReplyDeleteI heard from my friend that the glutathione injection can make your skin white, but it must be accompanied by the injection of vitamin C, but all must be accompanied by treatment of the outer.
I think it is a healthy treatment for your body and skin as long as you consult to the experts (a dermatologist).
I dont know why human beings like to complicate their lives.
ReplyDelete......and we wonder why cancer rates are rising
Thanks for dropping by my blog

People should just appreciate how God created them, abeg! I know most black celebrities use them including the A-list ones! I have a long list of US and UK stars who started to get lighter the more famous they got and it goes years back. That list includes male celebrities! So this form of bleaching is not a new thing. It's just that now the knowledge is in the public domain.
ReplyDeleteOh wow that is a big difference!
ReplyDeleteBut im paler than that girl in the "after" pic, actually im paler than anyone i've ever met!! :D lol I used to be really tan as a kid (im caucasian) but then i got no social life for a summer, and turned deathly white. Like literally, even porcelain (the lgihtest loreal foundation) looks pinkish on me.
Maybe my skin might be ideal in asia, but in america its not. But i love it now. Cuz i know how these ppl go through SOOO much to have my skin color. And im thinking what happened if an extremely white person like me gets these injections!?? Maybe i might try it out and become neon palee !! :D ahha that wud be awesome even if ppl think pale skin is gross here
The skin lightening injection have been described here. Know all about it from the post

ReplyDeleteHi Lily,
ReplyDeleteWhat one can expect out from botox injections results only after 3 to 5 days. You will notice relaxed muscles and less visible lines. The results generally last for a period of 3 to 6 months. As the results are temporary, maintenance sessions are needed to continue having sustained results.
Thanks Lily, I came across this for the first time. I had worries about my hair color.
ReplyDeleteI don't even understand how I finished up right here, however I believed this publish was once good. I don't understand who you might be but definitely
ReplyDeleteyou are going to a famous blogger if you happen to are not already.
Cheers!

ReplyDeleteHey yall. Aside all the negative comments above, as a whitening injection user, i thought i might share my experience.
It's true that we asians do this and it is as normal as caucasians go to tanning salon. When i first heard about it i thought this was silly too!
I used to live in snowy switzerland so i must admit during these years getting some sun light and some tan was such a great feeling. But now that i'm back to my home country, being under the sun 33c degree everyday is nasty. My asian skin also tans very easily. Hence we have whitening lotions and the latest is of course, injection.
It basically contains vitamin C and collagen which is good for your skin. I do the treatment 2-3x a month, so instead of putting so much Accepted chemical like foundation in my face, i have an even and lighter skin tone.
And just like our Panadol, anything chemical inside your body goes to your kidney. So now it really depends on how one sees it... If it makes you happy.. Why wouldnt you do it?
wow,,,,,i like it

it's a hundred percent safe. According to various reports by several scientists none of their findings have uncovered any side effects of this method. As a matter of fact, the whitening itself is the 'side effect'. Glutathione is an antioxidant that is already in the human body. But our bodies dont make enough of this to fight the toxins and free radicals that we come in contact with daily. So taking these pills/injections can actually help ward off liver disease, cancers, and all that. The whitening is just and added bonus or 'side effect' for some. so to answer your question, it is 100% safe. I dont subscribe to bleaching though and I probably would never do this. Jus had to drop my two cents.
ReplyDeleteThe health benefits look inviting tho.
L glutathione lessen melanocytes which shows melanin. lowering the melanin in the body would make your skin beautiful. L-glutathione’s whitening action begins inside the skin (dermal layer) going outside (epidermal layer), that’s the reason why it consumes a infreque9ntly span for you to see primary alteration in your skin tone. The whitening mechanism goes head to foot, means that you will have an even white skin tone in your whole mortal part. Skin Whitening Injections

ReplyDeleteI was in an accident a couple of years ago and was badly scarred . This injection/pill was recommended by a dermatologist and I have to say since I used it sparringly because d side effect is the "skin whitening " and am already fyting d blackness from the scars it has been highly effective . Have nothing bad to say abt this product. Everything is about personal choice and moderation anyway so self control is always paramount in every decision that affects your health or general wellbeing .just my opinion
