Bus Stop: The video

Yikes! Lol. I haven't been here in ages. Well, life has been happening. I am going to move this blog to my website soon or it would be for redirecting people to my website. Or something.
Meanwhile if you haven't seen Bus Stop, here you are!

I will be back.

She is back! *removing cobwebs*

I was at Nutty Jay's blog  and when I was waiting for my comment to load on the site, (it never did) my eyes strolled to her blog roll and I saw Lily Vee Johnson and underneath that, 8months!!!. I haven't blogged in 8 months. Time flies like crazy.

OK between dislocating my shoulder, working on a project that went straight to blazes and working on my business MystiScents (Bath&Body and Perfumery.. I will be talking about that here) 8 months have passed. Hmmm! I can only say thank God for life. And yes I am very good now thank you. And I hope you all are too.

Mirror Mirror on the wall..omg! Wait, who is that girl??

Ah! My 'skinny like this' days are so over.

I used to exercise at least four times a week. I was all into squats, belly crunches, using the treadmill and jogging. I loved the idea of doing some physical activity to burn some fat which only seemed to stay in my lower body. Then I stopped because I felt I was at my ideal weight and even got skinner than I wanted. (Oh you know that saying 'You can't get too rich or too skinny'? I only believe the 'Can't get too rich part')

So last week, I discovered that I had gained 7kg and my tailor confirmed that my normal (and somewhat stable) statistics had changed.(Yep, a sister drifted from 36-28-39 to 36-29-42).And I decided to start exercising again.

Now this is for people who do not have a lot of time (or loads of energy) but want to lose weight (not lots of it). This is what I do now and it works.

Before anything use a body cleanser. Now some stuff that people sell as 'herbal cleansers are not to be joked with. If you are in Lagos, you will see many hawkers selling stuff in bottles and it claims to cleanse and cure. If used excessively, a doctor told me it would stress your liver. That is why I favour the Aloe Vera gel from Forever Living. One can hardly go wrong with pure aloe Vera gel. So I take a small cup of this first thing in the morning and last thing at night. Then I exercise for 10mins 5 days a week. Belly crunches, squats, then 5mins on d treadmill. I do this before I have my bath in d morning and face my day. I am not big on breakfast. I usually do green or black tea when I feel like it. It doesn't have to be a total gym work out at first. You build on it. 5mins today, 10 mins tomorrow until you are huffing and puffing in the gym for hours. I am barely watching what I eat to be honest but I have cut down on the sweet stuff. Watching what you eat is important.

After a week, you should see a difference. I did. I have lost more than half of what I gained and I sort of like where I am now so I am not in a hurry to lose the other half.

Happy new month guys and I wish you the very best in all you do.

And she returned with apologies and New year greetings.

Hello beautiful people! Happy New year! *covers face*Now this has to be the latest [as in late] New year greeting ever but better late than never. I have been around and busy and when I carry my laptop to write a post, I am either too tired or too lazy. So what do I do? I tweet. Lol. Share your handles though so we can talk and stuff there if you do that kind of thing.

I have done a couple of radio interviews and something for TV too. Several days ago, I was at SnapTv studios. Met with young and very talented guys who have a number of unique concepts. I recorded something for a programme called ‘My Flyer Spot’. There, you get to talk about your album art, the photography, the concept, etc.

Here are a few of the pictures that were taken at the studio.

Lily Johnson's Flyer Spot on SnapTv

Believe it or not, I was thinking of a 'pose' and checking out the lovely magazine cutouts. Lool

I will post the video when it’s done. Time to do a blog round. It’s good to be back!

Have a lovely week.

Strolling back to the Original Garden are we ladies?

I am one of those people that believe that you should wear whatever you are comfortable in. Or whatever you think looks good on you. Because that way you will be confident and carry yourself well and of course this will make you look good. Somehow. And if it doesn’t, oh well, you at least pleased yourself.
Anyway, I don’t do a lot of dresses because I am not a dress person. I am a jeans/pants person. If you catch me in a dress, [or a skirt] then you are at a function with me. I am one of those ladies that would say ‘Halleluyah’ if I am invited to a wedding that I am not going to be any part of anything like the bridal train and stuff because I’m getting my pants ironed babe. [I know it is crazy and unheard of but I have a reason but still... ‘I don’t wanna go there’ *in Chris Brown’s voice] I am gradually changing though. Too many beautiful dresses out there.

Someone said my 'wings' were sprouting nicely. Loooool. With my hands down, the wings disappear though. #shrugs#

Generally speaking.....

Hey y’all!

*hugging everyone* Hope you guys have been cool? Well, I have God to thank for everything in my life and in the lives of my loved ones. He has been faithful.
Too many happenings yeah? The bombings in Jos and other parts of the North.  May God protect us all from this inhumanity. I will never understand why anyone would agree to kill himself and other innocent people in such a violent manner.

The way people [I suspect women] talk about unmarried celebrities like it’s a disease they aint married yet. They just aint married YET. Well since it is now a disease [or something like that] beside alcoholism and drug dependency, this should be a perfect opening at the ‘Yet to be married women meetings’

Hello, I am Lily Johnson. [Hi Lily]
I am a woman of ‘marriable’ age. [That means I am between 18 and 35 years old. Because after 35, the belief is that you are doomed forever.]
But I am not married yet. [Well, since the meetings are for only unmarried women, the participants are not allowed to say awww...]

Marriage is a beautiful thing and of course we all love what it comes with; the lovely rock on that finger [hehehe], the man of your dreams [errr...not all the time if we want to be truthful to our selves] and children [the highest point in marriage for most women]. When a lady isn’t married yet, it doesn’t always mean she has a bad character, has a spiritual problem or cannot keep a man. There are a thousand and one other relatable reasons. Just saying.

Dude, it would be in your best interest to put a ring on it though.

And there is colour blocking. Bold colours are still in and roaring! While some ladies get it right [Not that I am an authority in the thing but at least they look good], others look like circus tricks. And guys are catching up fast too. One guy made me laugh really hard the other day. He said a guy doesn’t have any business with a belt that isn’t black or brown. Quoting him, ‘Dudes be walking around looking like Teletubbies!’

Thank you all for all your comments.

Spread the love...

And yes she is back!

Happy New Year sweethearts!

Hello my darlings!
Happy New year to you all! I know today is the 18th and most of you have even forgotten that you were in a church or park screaming the words 18 days ago but if you live in Nigeria, you would know that it is somewhat in order to say that now because of the crazy situation we found ourselves in over the past days.

Lame excuse I know. I haven’t even blogged in months. I have been busy with a lot of things and the fact that my sister accidentally broke my modem just added to the whole MIA situation. Right now, I am in a tiny and over crowded cyber café trying to explain this to all of you while trying to keep my legs away from the CPU that is blowing hot air on them.

I am so glad that I was missed! Che, thank you so much girl. Jerry, merci! I missed blogging and blog reading too and I will get back to that as soon as I can. And please if you are following this blog and I am not following yours yet, let me know in the comment space and drop your URL too.

I want to thank all of you for making 2011 a grand year and I believe this year is going to be great for all of us.

Thank you guys! Kisses!

A little something about me (1). My romance with music.

When I changed my blog title, I told you guys that I wanted to talk about everything that I can talk about the way I see it. I want to talk about any issue that comes to mind. And that includes my own issues. I want you my dear readers to know a little more about me than what my profile says; which isn’t much anyway. This is rather intimate.

I said in my profile that I am an aspiring musician. Yes and I want to elaborate on that. I don’t want to bore you with what seems to be the anthem of every musician on the planet. I did start writing stories and songs when I was barely 10 years old. I had small books that I wrote my songs in. I was in my 2nd year in secondary school and although I wanted to study medicine, I still wanted to do music somehow. I was a very shy young girl and when I was invited to join the school choir, I refused but of course I was dragged into it by girls that thought I was just being stupid. I sang the alto part with one other girl. While the soprano and tenor part had many girls singing it, it was just two of us doing the deep alto. I later became sort of popular when I started singing alone or with my ‘bunk mate’ in school gatherings. The shy girl became well known and loved in school.

Now the present; what’s happening to me now? Well, not much. I still write songs and hope I start recording soon. I write pop and jazz songs. I didn’t pursue a career in it immediately because I wanted to at least have a degree.

Romancing the guitar.

My favourite musical instrument is the guitar. My best friend was teaching me how to play it for a while then we all got too busy with school stuff and other things.

In my life, I must have written more than a 100 songs; gospel, R&B, jazz and African music. I still do because when you hit the studios, the producer and music marketer would give you a lot of trouble about the songs that are saleable and stuff. You would write and write until you get it right. I am so ready for that now.

It is not going to be easy I know. But then nothing in life is. All I need is courage, focus, determination, dedication and of course resources. The latter is the hardest part but I will get there somehow.

Encouraging you to pursue your dreams. The most humble and even the wildest of them.

Lily Johnson.

I am.... still Lily Johnson!!

I just changed my blog title people. Yeah, I want to include a whole lot in my postings. I want to tell you guys what i think about everything. Now, it is only the name that changed okay? I am still me. You might see a part of me that you have not seen before. It is still good old me. Proudly Nigerian and a lover of all the races of the world. Highly opinionated and still down to earth.

I am still the woman you know and have come to love.  You will still see what you expect to see, some that you do not and a few that would amaze you.

Thanks for being there y'all
